Similarities + Differences
Atreyu Image:
Both images have been shot in an urban environment, showing an act of rebellion.
This is also shown as rebellion by the graffiti carved and painted on both images.
Both photographs, whilst taken outside, feature low key lighting. The Atreyu image has a very dark sky but then has the Sun shining brightly. This lights up the whole image.
Whereas, my or original image was taken on quite a dull day anyway.
It's also quite similar by the attitudes presented by the characters in the images. 3 of the band members of Atreyu aren't looking towards the camera. This also shows a laid back and rebellious attitude. It says to the audience, we are too cool to look at the camera. This is also the case for my photo. They are standing on three pillars raised above the ground, not looking at the camera, with the camera looking UP at them. This shows that the band are higher status, they are rebellious (Because they are not on the ground, raised from everyone else and that they are not looking at the camera) and that they have attitude.
August Burns Red Image:
Psychographics: In this image, the guys attitudes are very laid back and mainstream but the way they are dressed would assume they were young aspirers or mainstreamers again, so they are not really different from many other people. Their posture is very laid back and it looks as though they may as well be in bed. But more acts of rebellion as they are seen laying on a roof. Not a floor, not a bed but a roof. This is very unusual, as this is seen as a place you go when are you are re-tiling the roof or need to sort out a Sat. Dish. But no, these guys are just laying down as if its a normal day. They are also looking away. Again, like the Atreyu image, it shows that they are different from others and do not have to look at the camera to be in the photo.
The guys busy lifestyles are not reflected in the photo. Its as if they are having a break from the world. From this image you can't really tell what sub-culture the guys are from either. Their clothes are not obvious and neither is the location. Alls we can tell is that they are on a roof in a natural environment.
The Devil Wears Prada Image:
Demographics: As with my image, all the band members are male. This shows the sense of masculinity within the band. They are all in their early 20s which differs from the band in my photo who are 15/16. Race is also all the same for the two photos as they are all white Caucasian males. The photo is quite a high status photo as the camera is looking up at them and they are all standing with quite a tall posture. This is also the same for my photo too. However, the clothing choice is quite different. The weather could have had something to do with this.
Again, they are all in a natural environment, but this time only one of the members is not looking at the camera. Other than the camera being tilted, the only not normal factor about the photo is that the lead vocalist is standing at the side of the image.

Textual Analysis Of A College Magazine: Soup
Here is my Flickr-ed version of the college magazine, Soup.
This College magazine is not mainstream at all. It's completely different to any other college magazine, it's random, and there is barely any representation to college and students on the front page. I like the layout of the page, but i do think it's a bit TOO different, and straying too far away from mainstream.
